About Us
What began with a callout meeting in June 2023 that brought together a group of energized Middletown, Indiana community members immediately grew. We created a board and incorporated to nonprofit status August 23, 2023. We were accepted into Indiana's Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA)'s Indiana Downtown Affiliate network in March of 2024. In the fall of 2024, we applied for and were awarded a Downtown Revitalization Planning Grant through the Community Development Block Grant Program, and with those funds, we have engaged consultants to study our downtown and build a Revitalization Plan with us in 2025.

What are Middletown Main Street's goals?
We are seeking to bring economic and community vitality right into the heart of our downtown community, focusing on our historic business district on Locust Street. As affiliates of the Indiana Main Street Network through OCRA's Downtown Affiliate Network (ODAN), we’re following their proven four-point approach for revitalization:
-
Organization - cultivating partnerships, fun events and community opportunities and resources for revitalization.
-
Promotion - positioning the commercial district as the positive center of the community and hub of economic activity.
-
Design - supporting the community's transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets unique to Middletown.
-
Economic Vitality - focusing on growing economic resources and gathering financial tools to catalyze growth of new and existing entrepreneurs and businesses, property development, and exciting job opportunities here in Middletown.
Who can join in?
We hope you'll join us if you love Middletown! Our group was originally born from members of the Middletown Fall Funfest team who have been using the festival to support downtown improvements in small ways, but we need more neighbors in our community to get involved to bring lasting change to our special town! Just reach out and contact us.

Making Middletown, Indiana the place to "meet in the middle"
Our Mission
We seek out opportunities to build upon the human assets of Middletown – the creativity and the pride of its people – to spark revitalization and prosperity through community collaboration, events, and impactful town improvements.

Our Vision
We aim to re-energize our town’s first concept in a new era: to become once more the physical hub and ‘Middle-town’ between Anderson, New Castle, and Muncie— the place for meetings, events, and enjoying friendly hospitality. We can become again the special spot where community members can “meet in the middle” of these larger local cities.
